Dr. Chopra's book is very revealing !

I asked my meditation teacher to recommend a
book that would show yoga positions (asanas)
well enough that I could use my yoga mat and
practice these positions.

This is a PERFECT BOOK for learning simple
yoga postures, and the illustrations are very
simple to review and then use practically during
the day, before my meditation periods.

I was also surprised to find VERY detailed
descriptions of the practice of Ayurveda,
and how to tell which foods and supplements
are the proper ones for my own body style.

Buying this book used via Amazon's network of
booksellers was very easy, and inexpensive to do,
and shipping was very fast.

I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO SAY SO I COPYED SOMETHING Of course all this jiggling and joggling of body is caused by an unquiet, uncontrolled mind, in a cure for it lies in quieting, controlling and restful erecting the mind. I have found no aid so great as that of making the mind follow the body movements. The motion of an awning mind are not only very jerky and wasteful but they are exceedingly quick. Such a mind vibrates with the speed again destructiveness of lightning, and the owner simply cannot compel it to be absolute be quiet. But he can direct as well as to a very great extent. By directing the mind to follow the body motions, which are infinitely slower than mental motions, he can accomplish great things to ward quieting the line. By a little practice the mind catches a slower, more regular vibrations of the body, after which it is quite possible still further quiet it to a complete standstill as in making the mind a blank.

About the Author
Scott Powers holds the title of distinguished professor, and is also director of the Center for Exercise Science at the University of Florida. He has been teaching for over 20 years, and was named Teacher of the Year at UF in 1992. Scott served as president of the Southeastern Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine in 1986, and is the co-author of another textbook, Exercise Physiology: Theory and Application to Fitness and Performance, Eighth Edition, published by McGraw-Hill. As a member of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) Sports Medicine Review Board and the editorial board for the Journal of Applied Physiology, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, the International Journal of Sports Medicine, and the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, he is a well-known and highly respected individual in the field of exercise physiology.
 
Stephen Dodd is a professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida. He has been teaching for more than 20 years, and has won numerous awards, including the Teacher of the Year award in 1997. He has won the annual “Instructional Resources Grant” from UF every year since 1991, allowing him to make innovations in use of multimedia in his classroom. He has held numerous chairs in committees at UF.
 
Erica Jackson is an assistant professor in the Department of Public & Allied Health Sciences at Delaware State University. Erica teaches the fitness and wellness course, in addition to exercise psychology and kinesiology research. Erica is young, energetic, and in touch with her students. She brings both her expertise and first-hand knowledge of the challenges fitness and wellness instructors’ face in the classroom to the text book.

Beware - pages can be missing from the used edition

I couldn't believe it. I'm working in my class and guess what? I'm missing like nine pages that were torn out from this book. Unbelievable. I thought that I could save my money renting from amazon but it turned out to be a complete mistake. I won't do it again after this. I ended up having to buy an emergency kindle edition for $67.00 to save my hide so I could do my assignments on time. I'm disgusted. Thanks for checking the quality of the product before renting it out to people!

This book is really great!! As a student, I appreciate the well-organized structure which makes the information so much more accessible and easier to understand. The interior of the book has diagrams and figures to help with memorization. The book is very well-written, clear and precise. I have read a couple of other books for discrete math courses, but found nothing exciting there; mostly frustrating errors, bad examples and confusion. Grimaldi's book covers pretty much everything you need to understand and apply in Discrete Mathematics. The exercises are well designed, in increasing difficulty. For most of the exercises, one can find similar examples in the text. Parts 1 and 2 of the book are by far the best read in Fundamentals and Enumeration I have ever encountered. Section 11 of Part 3 is a very nice introduction to Graph Theory. My only suggestion for improvement is some revision of sections 12 and 13 on graph algorithms - these can be simplified in terms of notation and description. Part 4 is for more advanced readers; it is usually used in a second course in Discrete mathematics. However, without being as exhaustive as the first three parts, the fourth part is presented with the same clarity and detail as the other three. I would strongly recommend this book not only to anyone who teaches Discrete mathematics, but also to any student who studies Discrete mathematics from a different book. If you are frustrated about the material; Grimaldi's book would give you the understanding and clarity you need. Definitely a five star product!

Excellent overview of Discrete Mathematics for CS people

This book is perhaps the best reference for Discrete Math I have seen. The book is comprehensive. It gives an introduction to many topics every CS coding theory, number theory, partial orders, even automata. There are many examples and illustrations to understand the material. There are plenty of excercises. The text is well written; no errors or typos. It would be nice if the book had more proofs.

A math book that's actually understandable

Finally! A math book which is acutally well written, has enough examples to illustrate key concepts, and has enough problems to keep the math student busy. Discrete mathematics is a fairly involved subject and books on the topic range from relatively basic to extremely difficult treatises which only a PhD or a math professor could understand. Discrete and Combinatorial Mathematics : An Applied Introduction by Ralph Grimaldi is a book which will appeal to both sides of the spectrum. The book is written so that most undergraduate students will have little difficulty understanding, but graduate students will also find it indispensable as a reference. The illustrated examples are actually relevant to the homework problems, which is often missing in mathematical texts. Finally, the book does not try to overwhelm the reader with lofty proofs or stilted language. Each chapter builds on the previous subjects learned. That's all I can ask for in a math text. I like the coverage of combinatorics in the first chapter, which does a better job than many probability textbooks. And be sure to understand Euclid's theroem and the examples given in the book. Quite a few high-tech companies will ask you about the problem Grimaldi gives as an example of Euclid's theorem in their job interviews.
