Another favorite by our beloved Gerry berry !!

Our two girls (6,9) have nearly read every Geronimo book by now. The library can hardly keep any in stock and they are such fun to read that we end up buying most of them. Our girls have re-read them already several times so its a good investment. Super chef was no exception. I get to read parts of the stories here and there with my younger one, and this one was very fun and reminded me of all the chef shows on TV. Both our girls are great readers, but even in the beginning stages they enjoyed the Geronimo stories so much because they are easy to read and come alive with the typography and pictures that are included ! Many of Geronimo's stories have wonderful facts along the main story and I believe this one shared some great facts about food and nutrition.

These books are so fun for early readers

These books are so fun for early readers. My son at 7 wanted to read all of these as they came out. There are a fair amount of pictures but feels like a chapter book. There is lots of comedy in this series. Geronimo Stilton always has a quest that he has to help save his family of mice. Very cute stories. Highly recommend.

Good series but needs editing

I'm enjoying this series and I hope many more are planned. The author either needs a good editor or needs to rely less on spell-check and more on her own, or someone else's, eyes (it's, 'clothes', not ' cloths, and one sits on a couch, not a 'cough'). There are words missing on every few pages, mostly adverbs, and some sentences flip from past tense to present tense and back again. Overall though, I look forward to more of this series.

Not Angsty in the least!

Let me begin this review with the warning label of "talk of abuse and rape" to urge you to not use this warning as a deterrent to reading this installment to the Saint Lakes series. Yes, there are the two elements but they are TALKED about, it does not actually unfold right before your eyes. That said, let's move on.

Sage is a snake shifter and had been abused and raped consistently by the vampires who took him for their own pleasure. We first met him in the first book, Leave It All (Saint Lakes #1), as that flirtatious waiter whom Lucas took a disliking to before ending up as good friends. Garridan, a dragon shifter Bennett thought to have died or disappeared a long, long time ago, came in as the man rescued by their Alpha, Ramsey. The same man who Benentt had called uncle, his father's best friend and his savior. Garridan, too, had been used and much abused. In his case, he stayed in dragon form for years and those who follow shifter stories are familiar with the dangers of staying in their shifted form too long. Garridan is feared by all as feral and doubly dangerous for his power is more than the Saint Lakes alpha.

This book opens where the first book ends and we are thrust into the story from Sage's eyes. His feelings, his fears, his trauma and PTSD all take a toll on his psyche. It is especially difficult for him because he knew Garridan was his mate.

The two men have a difficult time sorting through their past traumas but as mating calls go, it's pretty hard to ignore. The mating is also working great for them as they turn to each other for comfort and ease each others' pain when the PTSD strikes.

Despite the angst of this story line, I was quite amazed this was a fast read. Then again, author April Kelley has the talent of getting the plot going on a fast pace. The only thing that bothered me were the glaring typos and some editing issues. Fortunately, even knowing they were there, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the love story between dragon and snake.

Note: I really, honest to goodness hate hate with a passion hate snakes but Sage is an exemption to this rule and is loveable. Also, there's no snake sex so that is an added bonus. (Just had to get that out there because I can hear the questions)

Very Mesmerizing Series!

I am totally hooked on this series. The characters are extraordinary (and there are so many of them), humorous, caring, and full of love and support. Sage is a snake shifter who was raped and abused by vampires, and his dragon mate, Garridan, was kidnapped and held for years by those vampires. Sage is traumatized by his experience and can't handle the thought of anyone touching him except for his mate. Together they begin to heal through each other and it's just so sweet and even sexy. I loved the interaction between the two of them, as well as the other characters who were so cute and funny throughout the story. There are so many shifters and it's such an entertaining read. What I love most about this book is how people are finding their mates. That's undoubtedly my favorite part of any shifter and vampire book. There may have been a few editing issues but nothing that was too serious. I was so engaged with the whole plot that I wouldn't really have cared anyway. The story progressed at a great pace and I can't wait to see what happens next with Ladon and Magnus as well as the others. I hope that the alpha of this family finds his mate also. I just love that whole process of the fated mate pull. Incredibly magnetic and spine tingling. :)

This book grants us the joy and healing of experiencing the glorious and joyful wisdom and theology of the great and poor man who too quickly served us servants as Pope John Paul the First.

This book reveals how and why he must ever remain the First, the pre-eminent, the Greater of the John Pauls. This book reveals how nearly we remained a vibrant, vital, relevant, important, clarified, coherent, intelligent, loving, spiritual, challenging Church in the modern world, rather than the punishingly costly instrument for the personal mobilized self-glorification and brutally imposed limited vision of his successor. These words come from our final Universal, Apostolic, Catholic Pope, who does not as now treat the universal Church as a Germanic seminary classroom, passing out grades according to his particular orthodoxy.

For, this book reveals the great and universal compassion, joy and wisdom which was to be in continuation with the great Popes of joy John XXIII and of prudent widom Paul VI, rather than the decimated and crabby kingdom in which we now discover ourselves. Read this book to remember who we really are, and who we are really called to be.

Pope John Paul the Greater continued editing and revising this work of fictional letters to great figures of fiction and of history until shortly before his mysterious and unexpeceted death, having been named Pope in the briefest conclave in history. The title in Latin might read in English "To the great ones", "To the illustrious" but these letters certainly fell from the pen of a great and illustrious one.

We Catholics gratefully receive this message in lieu of the great prophetic encyclicals which would have called us all together in loving joy and compassionate mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ, rather than dividing us along secular political lines like a Polish National subdiocese. Within these pleasant pages we find our true Faith in action.

Any Catholic, especially in the programs for new converts, and especially we veteran and life long practitioners of Roman Catholicism, find solid nourishment within these rare pages, and the eternal words of our faith as applied brilliantly to familiar modern paradigms. Letters are written by this great Pope to Mark Twain, GK Chesterton, Charles Dickens (and separately to the Pickwick Club), to Marconi, Petrarch and to Pinocchio, among many others. We also read here letters written to our great saints, including Saint Luke, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint Bonaventure, etc. The collection closes with a trepidatious memo to Jesus, which we must all dare to read to nourish our own communication with our Lord and Savior.

The collection opens with a very thoughtful, reflective and instructive general essay by John Cardinal Wright inspired by our brief Pope's infectious sincere smile, and a brief eulogy for the author by Father Angelo Beghetto.

Read it today, and dare to smile, and discover yourself and our Faith as you laugh out loud uncontrollably for joy, and weep, and remember. But it's all right. Jesus wept.

this is a very interesting book in which the future Pope John Paul I, when he was still the priest Albino Luciani, imagines letters he writes to many personalities of our human history: saints, scientists, philosophers, politicians, etc. and also he imagines the answers he gets from them...In this way, Fr. Luciani expresses his believes, opinions, teachings in many things, a way of communicating with his readers in a beatifull way.
