Sivasailam "Thiagi" Thiagarajan, Ph.D., is Resident Mad Scientist at the Thiagi Group, a Bloomington, Indiana–based organization with the mission of helping people improve their performance effectively and enjoyably. Thiagarajan has published forty books, including Jolts!, Thiagi's 100 Favorite Games and Design Your Own Games and Activities (all from Pfeiffer), as well as numerous games, simulations, and articles.

Tracy Tagliati, CPLP, is a Senior Associate at the Thiagi Group, where she specializes in designing and delivering training to international clients. Nothing else like it

Only a single printing of this book was published in 1973, at $35 per copy ($170 in today's dollars). Those who missed the boat have had to content with finding a local library that carried the title, or buying a deaccessioned volume from used book dealers at 10-20x the original retail (2-4x adjusted for inflation).

As the other reviewer noted, this is a comprehensive reference manual, a chronological survey of male fashion trends in the mostly Anglo-American cultural sphere through 3/4 of the 20th Century, from underwear to formal wear, from spats to cravats, from full body bathing suits to polyester leisure suits. The authors did not pretend to teach good taste (though they were clearly affected by the contemporary "Peacock Revolution"), as Flusser and Roetzel (and Andy Gilchrist) aimed to do through their popular guides; what they did offer in abundance was a historical perspective on the evolution of sartorial design. By gaining this perspective, the reader would have a more confident grasp on what 'good' taste was, is, and will likely be (given the cyclic nature of fashion).

Is this confidence worth $300 - $500? If one is a working member of the fashion or entertainment industry, almost certainly. A history buff? Quite possibly. Someone looking for guidance on what to wear to work or a wedding reception? Look online (several informative websites and Wikipedia articles appear to draw heavily from this book in their background sections), or buy something authored by Flusser, Roetzel, or Gilchrist.

After waiting patiently for years, I finally came across a copy offered at roughly 1x inflation-adjusted original retail; unless and until McGraw Hill decides to reissue this title in e-book format for a pittance, it will remain one of my all time best finds.

The Grimoire of men's classic fashion culture

This tome is the gold standard of resources for learning most everything there is to know about classic men's dress and fashion. More of a reference work than a cover to cover read, this resource answers most of those questions that would leave most classic men's dress mentors scratching their heads. Wonderful illustrations, sketches, glossary of terms, and evolutionary commentary of most every item that can be named in the male wardrobe.

A rarity to find in any condition, but be prepared to pay handsomely for the information contained herein. This book is a much valued and used trophy in my collection of lore in the art of classic men's dress. Couldn't recommend it with higher marks.

Out of print, so it's hard to find at an affordable price. But if you are a costume or fashion designer, this remains one of the best compilation-type references around for 20th Century men's wear.

This situation raised the questions of why states contribute forces to UN missions and, conversely, what factors inhibit them from doing more? Providing Peacekeepers answers these questions. After summarizing the challenges confronting the UN in its force generation efforts, the book develops a new framework for analyzing UN peacekeeping contributions in light of the evidence presented in sixteen case study chapters which examine the experiences of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Nepal, Uruguay, Brazil, Turkey, South Africa, and Japan. The book concludes by offering recommendations for how the UN might develop new strategies for force generation so as to meet the foreseeable challenges of twenty-first century peacekeeping and improve the quantity and quality of its uniformed peacekeepers.

Alex J. Bellamy serves as a Non-resident Senior Adviser at the International Peace Institute in New York, Honorary Professor of International Relations at the University of Queensland, Director (International) of the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, and Director of the Human Protection Hub. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. He is Professor of International Security at the Griffith Asia Institute, Griffith University, Australia.

Please avoid the Kindle version until they fix the font. Somehow they released this with a faded blue font for >50% of the text which is difficult to read on most devices/screens (PC, macbook, ipad, iphone).

It blows my mind that we live in a day and age where you can release a book for nearly $100 without actually having people try it or use it. There is no way that they had even 30 people who actually use Kindle books try this out. It appears this can be fixed relatively easy with a new download / version if someone took a few hours to revise it, but currently it's not usable and I will probably return the kindle book.

If you don't believe me, feel free to buy the book - Kindle has a pretty good return policy in the first day or two, which I imagine I'll take advantage of. The color of the font for the text in HTML code is: #E0FDFF You can google that code and see the font color. Imagine studying with a book with that font color for hours (it's on a white background, lol!) Imagine PRINTING a book with this color font. It's jaw dropping stupidity this is product made it to sale. I'm baffled at the level of "I don't give a .... " this product displays.

It seems like people aren't trying anymore. Or maybe electronics and gadgets are too newfangled to acutally test drive before release? Who knows. But pathetic display of competence here.
