About the Author

Joyce Slochower is Professor Emerita at Hunter College and Graduate Center, the City University of New York. She is on the Faculty of the New York University Postdoctoral Program, the Steven Mitchell Center, the National Training Program of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, the Philadelphia Center for Relational Studies, and the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California in San Francisco. She is the author of Holding and Psychoanalysis (Routledge, 2014) and over sixty papers. She is in private practice in New York City.

This was a great book, some of his stories really hit home for me, he captures your attention from the beginning to the very end. Parts of this book were very hilarious, I had tears running down my face. I strongly recommend this book, and I look forward to hearing more from this author!

The Best in it's Category

This is the best book I came across on this subject. I have a child on the spectrum and he is on the Gluten,Casein and Dairy Free Diet.Recipes for this type of diet can be extremely hard to master and the end result is tasteless. Not anymore, Alice Sherwood has given us a book with recipes that work and the end result looks and taste delicious like any other type of foods.The blueberry muffins is one example. The recipes are easy to follow.The book is filled with beautiful pictures and has tons of information from shopping to traveling and dining out.A must have for anyone who has food allergy.

Title is Deceiving

I bought this book because the title says: Allergy-Free Cookbook, no eggs, no dairy, no nuts, no gluten. I was disappointed to find that this is not entirely true. Nearly all of the recipes contain at least one of those ingredients if not all of them! Variations are given on the right side of the page for the "free" versions. Things like replace heavy cream with soy cream (we don't do processed soy foods). The baked goods may be made gluten-free, but still contain dairy and eggs.

I have 2 ADHD sons and they are on the GF / CF diet. My husband is also allergic to eggs so I cook mostly without eggs. This cookbook just didn't suite my needs. It is a nice looking book with good photos. And I have found a few recipes that we all like. The Chicken Fajitas are good and we use brown rice tortillas with them, we also like the Noodles in Hot Ginger Broth.

I would check this one out from the library before purchasing it. There are other great books out there that are healthy and gluten / dairy free.

Not what it appears

I echo the review about many of the recipes not really being GF, DF etc. as the book says and the optional way to make each recipe isn't simple for most of the recipes. The way it's set up is confusing and many of the ingredients are expensive and unusual. This is not a book for someone who wants to find allergy-free, easier food to make, especially if they're looking to save time. It's more like a gourmet allergy-free cookbook for people that want to spend their whole day in the kitchen and have plenty of money to spend and time to read directions. And although she calls them "family" recipes, a lot of the recipes are not very kid-friendly.

Good first book in the Paranormal field

Demonspawn has an interesting take on the paranormal genre. The main character, Alex Teague, is a boy like most others growing up, with just a few instances that might indicate there is something different about him. But as he matures, questions about his heritage cause him to doubt he is really his mother's son. The true story is an interesting take on acquiring "super" powers. Main characters are well developed and the storyline is good. Pacing is OK, just a couple of spots it slows down. Dialogue is good and I like the overall style of the book. Good first entry by this author and I will be looking for more by Glenn Bullion.

Thrilling and Creative

Ghosts, demons, and vampires all intertwined with sexual tension...what more can you ask for in a book? Demonspawn by Glenn Bullion has all of those things and so much more. Once I started reading, I literally could not stop until I had finished it. With just the right amounts of action, suspense, and intrigue, the reader is taken on a wild ride with Alex who is seemingly an ordinary guy just trying to find his place in the world. Until he discovers that he can see and talk to ghosts and that demons fear and bow down to him. Alex struggles on his journey of self discovery and finding out just who he is and what he is capable of. If you like supernatural books that have just the right amounts of horror mixed with love and friendship, then I'm certain you will love Demonspawn. I can not wait to read more from Mr. Bullion.

Ready for the next book please!

I just finished reading the book, I honestly didn't expect much considering the very reasonable price but since I'd seen a few good reviews on it I decided to take the plunge and buy it anyway.

I loved it! The main character Alex realizes he's going through changes, but its not the normal boyhood to manhood changes, but instead he finds out he's part demon! Sometimes I started to wonder if I was going to get bored with the book, as this isn't my normal type of paranormal romance I like to read, but the author managed to keep me wondering what was going to happen next through out each page. I felt like I didn't want to put the book down because I really needed to read the next page to see what Alex was up to.

I wish the second book was out already! I hate it when you finish the first book in a series and realize 'Oh No! The next book isn't available yet.'

P.S. I loved Alex's pets at the end of the book. They added a cute factor into something you wouldn't have expected.

Fair book for beginner to intermediate level design

This book offers a solid foundation for the planning stages and a good overview of the implementation stages of level design. Good for those who are looking for general strategies for level creation and wanting to get up to speed on terminology/workflow for this type of work. It's all fairly theoretical with only one chapter on actual nuts and bolts level design, where you make a single room in the Unreal editor. If you're wanting something covering more specifics for a given level editor (like 'how do you create water?' or 'how do you make displacements') you should probably look for something more in a technical bible or a video tutorial series for the tool in question.

I am really happy to know about the Google improvement on off line ...

The early models of chromebooks just works with internet connection. I am really happy to know about the Google improvement on off line operation and that most important tasks can be done without internet. I red that until December 2015 all programs should work offline. Chromebooks are a great second computer. You must have a primary computer with windows but your second computer could be a chromebook. In my country tablets are cheaper but this little wonder have a keyboard and seven hours of battery life. Otherwise smartphones have small screens very difficult to write
text.

There are very few books about Chromebooks and this is the most comprehensive I have seen yet. I use it strictly as a reference manual and it has performed well in that regard. Chrome is continually changing and the best way to find the answer to a particular operational problem is to go to Chrome Help.

It is true that a man and a woman always approach to a new relationship with good intentions, but good intentions are not enough. You have to know how to express your attitudes and desires when you want something from your loved one, so that he or she understand you for sure. Then books like “What We Don’t Know About Love” come to help – it is undoubtedly an extremely valuable, practically oriented, rational reading, which can be beneficial for both sexes.
According to the author many marriages in the past were not stable too, but survived - public opinion and prejudices affected them inadequately. But there is something else - in the past gender roles were more clearly divided and tensions on this basis arose hardly ever. As for the economic difficulties, so typical for many families within smaller settlements in poor countries, they cannot change radically the situation in a relationship, if there are no problems in principle.
This book will convince you that confidence is the fundamental prerequisite for successful relationships. And Milena Rodriguez is right, similar life values are much more important than similar interests. She had written a psychological guide in the labyrinths of intimate relationships. What an entertaining read!

Out of all of Miss Drake's books, this one has to be my favorite! I love this book so much, I'm not even sure how many times I've reread it in the past years, and I couldn't put it down the first time I read it. In a way, the story IS kind of typical. You've got the strong arrogant knight and the stubborn rebellious maiden who are forced to get married over duty. I found the book to be really fast paced. As with all of Shannon Drake's books, there's a lot of battle scenes involved so if u like a lot of that "brave and handsome knights in battle" stuff, this one's the one for you.
I really liked the heroine even though I hear a lot of complaints about how immature, bratty, and childish she was. I can actually understand how she must have felt living in an age where woman were considered weak and were powerless. She had such an exceptionally strong will to be free to rule her father's lands that it made her seem bratty. The key to the book is that she didn't hate her husband for who he was, but absolutely dispised the idea that she had been COMMANDED to marry him. Throw this heroine in with a mature but arrogant and fiery hero and you've got a really fun and entertaining read. I love their first encounter when the heroine tries to escape her fate of marriage by fleeing the King's castle.
I've read so many books where the two main characters are clawing each other in the throat one minute and then sleeping with each other in the next, totally forgetting the fact that they're suppose to be hating each other. I can say that this one's definitely different. You see a slow but gradual change in how the two characters feel toward each other...no jumping around. I felt that their personalities were more true and it made them seem more realistic. I hate the fact that by the end of most books, the characters who u fall in love with at the beginning of the book have totally changed...almost to the point where u feel as if they've become totally new characters. Shannon Drake did a good job of graduallly shaping her two main characters. At the end of the book, they're still the same two from the beginning even though it's obvious they've changed their ways and have fallen in love.
I would definitely recommand this book to anyone

Historical Scottland and Romance

One of the few unabridged offerings in the historical romance category, and a good choice from Brilliance. First off if you don't like romance stories this one is not for you. But, if you like Scottish/English romances this one is for you. You will follow the story of one of the King's champions (King David of Scotland that is) as he is finally "given his prize" for being a champion all these years. He is to get the Castle of Blue Isle and along with it the Heiress. But the heiress has other ideas and thinks that she can govern the lands herself, as she is the daughter of a Viking. She commences to run away which allows for an interesting first meeting of the warrior and the heiress.
There is a lot of intrigues, vengeance as well as history in this story. The author takes the time to talk a lot about the difference in what is happening in Scotland as well as England at the time. She also goes into the history of the isle and how things have changed over the years. I liked the story though at times it seemed a bit long.

Romance with a history lesson...

This is my first Shannon Drake book, so I didn't quite know what to expect. This book differs from other historical romances I've read, in that it reads like a "story" that happens to have romance as one of the primary focal points. It's not the typical historical romance where the focus is on the beauty of the "fair maiden," the prowess of the male character, and their sparring matches before they realize they're meant to be together. Sure there's some of that here too, but there's a story as well. This is evidenced by the length of time it takes before the two characters even kiss. I guess this is more of a "mature" historical romance. However, it was enjoyable enough that I'll try another of her books. While I still prefer the "typical" historical romance, the bottom line is, would I recommend it? The answer is yes, as long as you don't expect a novel similar to some of Kathleen Woodiwiss' best (and older) novels.

Honoring the voices of all and moving to a better future

Bob Corcoran spoke to an audience at Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies (1740 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Washington, DC) on Tues. March 9, 2010. The Conflict Prevention & Resolution Forum organized "Conflict in Our Own Backyard: Prospects for Racial Reconciliation." I listened carefully as he reported the work of Hope in the Cities - honest conversation and sustained partnerships across boundaries that often separate us from one another. The author and his courageous and inspiring co-leaders at Initiatives of Change have brought racial healing in Richmond, Virginia. Since Richmond was a major slave market, the capital of the Confederate States of America, and a center of "Massive Resistance" to the Brown v. Board of Education decision in 1954, which ended the "separate but equal" injustice in U.S. education, this record of achievement confounds skeptics. I find his historical narrative almost flawless and am inspired by his chapters 16-20, which summarize lessons learned and practical tools and skills for staying at the table during painful conversations. I will close this rave with one truth Bob retells: forgiving is not forgetting; it is letting go of the hurt. (p. 262).

Richmond inspiration

What a wonderful resource and inspiration for anyone wanting to build better community relations. A host of stories that show what can be done as we accept responsibilty for ourselves and people like us rather than blaming or pointing the finger at others. As someone who lived for a year in Richmond I am amazed at what is being achieved.

Truly Inspirational and Educational - A Must Read

A must read for anyone interested in learning more about community development and how best to foster positive change through intelligent dialogue. We can all learn a great deal and draw a tremendous amount of inspiration from the lessons to be learned from this book. Should be required reading for all community leaders. I can only hope that my city would look to Richmond's growth and begin to implement similar change in my community.
