1400hrs 25th May, 1940. Telegram from Anthony Eden, Secretary of State for war:
"The eyes of the Empire are upon the defence of Calais, and H.M. Government are confident you and your gallant regiments will perform an exploit worthy of the British name."
There lay the army of the dead.
Regimented row after regimented row, still lined up on the station’s platform.
The sight of those corpses stopped me in my tracks. Almost in a daze I took my seat, occupying the single empty slot in the nearest file.
What the hell was happening?
Hell had to be the word. I thought that I’d been through hell before but surely nothing could be worse than this?
How had it all come to this?
How had it come to this?
When Major Robert Leroy Parker, Welsh Guards, was questioned about inadvertently starting WW2 and then accidentally saving Hitler's life his response was: "anyone can make a mistake!"
In the Spring of 1940 Rob Parker will have to live with the consequences of these mistakes as he's thrown into the Allied front line to await the juggernaut that is the iron fist of the Nazis. His one thought: "There must be some kind of way out of here!"
"Robert L. Parker is a great creation. Funny, irreverent, a wonderful character who plays with the reader’s emotions and expectations in a way that escalates the story into something truly gripping." Harper-Collins
"Back in Blighty, Major Rob Parker, the charming rogue who triggered WWII, breezes through his war-time adventures armed primarily with a sense of self-preservation and an acerbic wit. The background to Parker's enthralling escapades is a historically accurate, uncensored and evocative account of the events of WWII. Amusing, informative, occasionally appalling and often nerve wracking, Apocalypse Then Part Two is perhaps even better than Part One." Sly
"There is an extraordinary authority in your picture of the terrible year of 1940, devastating detail which clearly prefigures the whole disaster of the Battle of France in a nutshell." Grant David
"Robert L Parker seems to have matured in some way in the interval between the end of what you posted of the first part and the start of this. I like him even better now." Jim Heter
"This is confident and assured work. As you read you know you are in good hands." Clare Sweeney
"The humour is beautifully understated, very British, what!" Fran MacIlvey
"What a great piece of history put together with fiction." Chipper Newman
"Intelligent and well crafted, this indeed a clever piece of writing." Cyrus Hood
"I love it!" Isoje David
"I was engrossed!" Lenny Banks
"I was immediately captivated and laughed aloud more than I was expecting to. The initial plot description doesn't do it credit." Jacqueline Malcolm
"Crammed with authenticity, the depth of the historical research reverberates like a baritone." Joshua Roebuck
"It came over to me as historical nonfiction at times." Neville
"Transported me to 40's London in a heartbeat." Jue Shaw
"A deftly written, highly believable account of the workings of a World War II military machine." Mark Cain
"It's quite different to most other books I've read; quirky, pacey and intriguing." Jackie McLean

couldn 't wait to read

Good followup to "stormbringer ". Same witty style, and again humorous in the face of such historical tragedy. Strong characterization, and, again very well written. Am anxiously awaiting third book! Highly recommend this book.

Great Entertainment and Education
By Author of Vic's Big Walk
First "Stormbringer", now "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Both wonderfully entertaining books. A great story, which continues and will hopefully continue (where is the third book, which was trumpeted for 2013?). And so informative and educational too, with so many little-known facts about the Second World War. Great detail on the cars, planes and weaponry of the era. But was there really a Hillman Imp at that time? The Imp I know of, and had experience with, was in the 1960s. There may have been an earlier Imp but I can not find on t'Interweb.
I get the impression that this second book was rushed out in response to the success of the first. It is really spoiled by so many errors and typos. I try not to be obsessive about apostrophes but - German's - really! Mr DeLacy should get an experienced copy reader or editor - ideally two or more - to sort this out. Then we will have a great couple of books - and the prospect of many more.
